The word “tent,” derived from the Turkish word “çat,” meaning “to cover” or “to enclose,” became the home and dwelling of the Turks who led a nomadic life in Central Asia approximately fifteen hundred years ago, shaped by climatic and geographical conditions. Indeed, envisioning the sky as a tent stretched over the earth, the Turks likened the “pillar of the sky” to a tent pole. Over time, the belief that “the sky, too, has a pillar” transcended borders and evolved into a shared cultural heritage of all humanity.

With such a deep-rooted historical bond to the tent, Türkiye continues today to carry this ancient heritage into the modern era by integrating it with the needs of our time, using tent and tarpaulin systems across every aspect of life. Indeed, a vast supply chain has emerged both in Türkiye and worldwide—ranging from tarpaulin and tent manufacturers to aluminum profile producers, and from organization and rental services to the event industry. However, despite the quiet growth of this extensive ecosystem over the years, it has long lacked a comprehensive exhibition capable of bringing the entire sector together. It was at this very moment that we listened to the powerful rhythm of this ancient industry. The tent’s long journey from the steppes of Central Asia to the present day, Türkiye’s high production capacity, and its rising influence in global markets opened the door to a new vision. There was a clear need for a cross-border meeting point that would unite all stakeholders of the sector under one roof. This idea came to life when three strong institutions came together around a shared goal.
TÜYAP, Türkiye’s pioneering institution in the exhibition industry with its experience, institutional strength, and reliability; Teknik Fuarcılık A.Ş., which serves as a bridge between Turkish and global textile industries through its publications and exhibitions; and Mimoza Organizasyon, specialized in tent rental and manufacturing, joined forces. Thus began the journey of Tent Expo World – Awning, Tent Systems, Technologies, Sub-Industries and Accessories Exhibition, Türkiye’s first and only specialized exhibition for the tent and awning sector.

By organizing Tent Expo World in Türkiye—a strategic hub for manufacturing and trade—we aim to bring together all components of the sector under one roof, paving the way for major collaborations, new business opportunities and encouraging global brands to shift their production operations to Türkiye. At the same time, we seek to contribute to increasing the exports of Turkish companies and strengthening their competitive power in international markets.
